Two Manly Warringah athletes make NSW team for Nationals

Two Manly Warringah athletes – Charlie Bowtell and Mitchell Hatfield – have been selected in the NSW Little Athletics team to compete at the National Championships.

Charlie and Mitchell were among the 32 male and female athletes selected as under-13 representatives for the NSW team, which will compete in Hobart on April 27 and 28.

Selection this year was open to under-14s athletes who would have otherwise missed the opportunity to compete at U13 Nationals due to changes implemented in age groupings before the season began. Selections are based on results at the State Championship, as well as an athlete’s ability to perform across a range of events.

Mitchell Hatfield earned a silver medal in the under-13 boys high jump at the State Championships at Homebush. Charlie Bowtell had qualified to compete in the under-14 triple jump that was postponed due to wet weather.

Manly Warringah Little Athletics is one of the oldest, largest and most successful Centres in NSW having began on the Northern Beaches in 1970 – now in its 49th season. The following five Clubs compete together at Narrabeen on a Saturday morning from September to March:
Cromer   Manly   Peninsula   Seaforth   Wakehurst

The Clubs of MWLAC are differentiated by the colour of their uniform, and their Wednesday night training location. Families usually choose a club based upon their friendships, or where they live and go to school. Individual Club Training is held on a Wednesday evening and Centre Training (for specialist athletes from U9+) on a Monday evening at Narrabeen. Please select the “Centre Information” drop-down tab above for complete information regarding Registration, Training, Competition, Season Calendar and much more.

Competition is held for 20 weeks at the Sydney Academy of Sport, Wakehurst Parkway, Narrabeen on Saturday mornings from 7:30am (with the occasional Friday night twilight session in January from 5:30pm).

The Manly Warringah Centre encourages participation in a large number of events for enjoyment and skill development combined with achieving personal bests and having fun. It caters for male and female athletes from U/7 to U/17.
